WTF is going on with the Wine Wizard

sapm

Michael Fridjhon is a great wine taster with a difficult surname to spell right the first time round. He has recently started calling himself a wizard. I hope he has bought a hat with runes on. The reason he has started the wizard stuff is because he launched his new website winewizard.co.za.

The website’s OK, but his twitter account is not. It’s spam. Plain and simple. Michael, if you are reading this please know that spamming:

the use of electronic messaging systems to send unsolicited bulk messages, especially advertising, indiscriminately.

is not OK. Never. While you are operating on the soft-core side of spam – you’re not hacking accounts – simply sending your link to every South African person who mentions wine, it’s still  vulgar and a big internet no no. Please stop.

  1. Interesting points on Wine Wanker, Harry. I stay away from twitter myself, but I can imagine those tweets are pretty annoying. I think Mike is getting an interesting lesson on how very few people actually listen to him. Now he’s gone digital the lack of traffic or facebooks followers will be very telling.

Oh, and I noticed the spliff years ago.

    1. Indeed. I reckon that he’s not even using the account and is employing software to reply to certain keywords. If not, he shows not just a lack of knowledge regarding social media, but simple rudeness..

  2. I would suggest the line “the site gives comfort to people in their wine selections” (or similar) shows how ill conceived the whole concept of the site actually is.

    1. Ya, it’s a little odd. Not sure how it fits in. Although building up a database of one critics scores and notes is useful. He’s an excellent taster, and having all this info available is a good thing.
